Which Is Better For Burning Fat...?

For years the general belief for burning fat was to do a workout that consisted around 60-70% of your max heart rate. But I would like to tell you that is not the case. It is much more beneficial to do high intense workouts around 80-90% of you max heart rate.

First off if you are sitting there wondering what is max heart rate and how do you figure it out I'm sure you are not alone. Max heart rate is the capacity at which your heart can function based on your age. So to figure it out it is a very simple formula which is 220-your age and that is it you now know your max heart rate. So, to figure out the different workout zones you would multiply say .8 for 80% by you max heart rate, and that should be the number you shoot to work at. For example I am 20 so 220-20=200 as a max heart rate then 200*.8= 160 for a target heart rate.

Ok now back to why it is better to do higher intensity. Granted from working out like this you can't workout out as long but that doesn't matter. By working harder for a shorter period of time stimulates your body more during and post workout. Which is crucial to fat loss. So, even when you are through with your workout you are still burning FAT! Versus the old way where people would do moderate intensity you get some decent burning of energy during but not after your work out. So when you finish your workout so is your body in burning fat.

So spending an hour or two on the treadmill means:
1. You are not working hard enough if you can spend that long in the gym
2. You are not effectively burning energy to burn fat

Start spending your time more effectively at the gym!

Why Health And Fitness Should Be Your Priority in The Coming Year...

Well to be honest it should be your priority now. But, I'll settle for starting come the new year. With every one's budgets getting tighter and people not going for things that were once an everyday occurrence. You should never let your health and fitness be one of those everyday occurrences that is dropped. I know it is soo easy to say I don't need that right now, but you couldn't be more wrong.
Obesity in the United States is still on the rise. About 34% of adult males are obese, 32% of adult females are obese, and whats even more sad is 17% of our youth are obese. That is definitely not a statistic you want to be apart of. That is why as a nation we need to move forward become educated on how to live healthy lives and actively make an effort to change.
Going along with today's economy it is almost crazy for someone not to consider taking action and getting healthier. Since a person who is either unhealthy or obese spends around 9,000 a year on health care related issues. While the person who lives a healthy life usually spends around 6,000 a year. That is huge, if that right there doesn't get you motivated to start making changes well.....then call me haha. Not to mention who knows what is going to happen with health care right now but if the reform happens your costs could be going up even more.

Aside from saving you money keeping health and fitness on the front burner in your life will just make you feel better. What happens when you exercise is your brain releases endorphins which make you feel good or happy. Now why wouldn't people want to feel happy? That is just one way it can improve your mood another way is simply getting and keeping the body you want. Lets face it that is definitely a major reason why a lot of people work out they want to look good naked. Yup I said it but its true and when you do your whole mentality changes on yourself and life you become once again happy. I personally think the world needs more happy people so start taking control of your life and lets make an effort come the new year to make changes for the better!
