
Hello there I hope every one had a happy and safe Thanksgiving. Now that you are all fueled up you are ready to hit the stores hard for the holiday season. I'm not going to hide it I was one of the people out there at 5 in the morning Friday. Anyway now that the holiday season is in full swing I know how difficult it can be for people to exercise. But there is something you could always do and it only takes 10 minutes. That my friends is stretching. Now I'm not saying you will lose weight by stretching, but what you will do is keeping your posture in check, prevent injuries, and keeping your health in check.
You can do tremendous things by stretching everyday and one of those is correct muscle imbalances you may have. Think about it, it is so simple spend 10 minutes a day stretching and you can prevent things like lower back pain, cramping, neck pain, and pretty much any joint or muscle pain can be prevented with static corrective stretching. BUT, very FEW people will actually do it. I think it is because people are just not aware of the power stretching holds.
Along with correcting muscle imbalances it will also prevent potential injuries. What happens is with people who are unconditioned they perform improper movements when exercising which leads to imbalances then ultimately ends with injury. With proper stretching and proper exercise you can stop improper movements which trickles down to you NOT getting injured. Here is a quick test you can do with yourself. Get a ruler sit on the floor and spread your legs out so they are a foot apart. Then put one hand over the other and reach as for as your can, if you can not reach the backside of your feet you are in danger of blowing out your back!

Now science is starting back up the importance of stretching even more. They have done studies to show how stretching can aid in the reversing the hardening of arteries. Researchers have shown that stretching regularly with your diet and exercise in check can significantly reduce your cholesterol levels and the hardening of arteries. If your a person who has a difficult time remembering to stretch maybe you could enroll in a yoga or martial arts class since they focus a lot on stretching.
I hope you have a greater understanding the importance of stretching and how it can greatly improve your life. No excuses now hahaha.
